About me

I currently have 4 years of varying teaching experiences. I have been a math tutor ever since high school, I have taught at non-profits, summer programs, and have worked full-time within San Francisco’s public schools. I have also been an adjunct professor for two universities teaching calculus, algebra, and statistics (I earned my master’s in mathematics from San Francisco State University). I have also worked as a math consultant helping teachers with curriculum development in trigonometry and algebra.

All of these experiences have shaped my perspective and opinion about how mathematics should be taught. My views are constantly evolving as I pursue my doctorate in math education. I embrace technology and know it’ll continue to be a force to be reckoned with.

I believe procedural skills should be developed in junior high and elementary school, while project based and conceptual learning can be executed in high school. Mathematics entails understanding the world we live in, but reality requires us to also communication that information. Presentations on math topics are a worth while experience for high school students. Most importantly, with effective classroom management, we can make it fun!
